A healthier version of this Rich Caramel Sauce that is of course dairy free and low in sugar, and no condensed milk!
Dulce De Leche
Time 40 mins (plus overnight) | Makes 1-2 Cups
- 1 can Full Cream Coconut Cream
- 1/2 cup Coconut Sugar
- 1 tbsp Coconut Syrup (or Maple Syrup)
- 1/4 tsp Himalayan Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Start by simply combining all of the ingredients except the Vanilla in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Continue stirring while boiling for 3-4 mins then turn down to a low heat and leave to simmer till the liquid has reduced to half its volume – takes about 20-30 mins.
Once done remove from the heat and stir in the Vanilla Extract. Leave to sit for 30-60 mins till cool, then leave in the fridge overnight. As it cools the Sauce will thicken and turn paler in colour. Serve with anything you like.
